A detailed interview about the production of Tungsten Carbide and Ceramics!!!
In order to understand the specific situation of Shenzhen Yibi Group’s production of tungsten carbide ceramics, members of the business development team interviewed Mr. Wu Degui, the production manager of tungsten steel ceramics.
The interview information includes the information about tungsten carbide and ceramics that you are most concerned about: material characteristics, main market, production process, product delivery, production capacity and samples, etc.
Wu Degui:
Production Manager of the tungsten carbide&ceramic department of Yibi Group. He has worked in Yibi for more than ten years. He is the leader of the technical team and quality management team of the tungsten carbide&ceramics department. The team he leads has finished many projects with the highest efficiency, most professional technology and most serious attitude. Under his leadership, Yibi’s tungsten carbide&ceramic team has made huge breakthroughs in process innovation and material innovation.
Main interview information:
D: Good morning, Manager Wu, are you busy today? We are here today to find out some specific news about the production line of tungsten carbide and ceramics. Asking you some questions and getting your answers for these two materials, will help let our customers get a better understanding of real and professional information about our company in the production of tungsten carbide and ceramics. shall we start now?
W: Sure.
D: Ok, manager Wu, are there any tungsten carbide or ceramic projects in the production recently?
W: Yes, our customers are mainly located in European and America such as Denmark and Sweden. Recently, we have recently received new ceramic and tungsten carbide orders from America.
D: What is the monthly production capacity in recent years?
W: Basically, tungsten carbide products can be about 50 thousand per month , ceramic products can be 100 thousand per month.
And it can reach about 150 thousand per month according the customers orders.
D: Also, manager Wu, can you please share some tungsten carbide/ceramic examples items that we did before with us to take a view?
W: Sure, these items are all launched in the market, and can be shown in public.
D: For these examples shown to us, is there anything special technique applied to produce it? Or is it any limitation for the production?
W: We mostly do combination products in ceramic, such as ceramic with silver/gold,/stainless steel, also we suggest not doing too big product in ceramic, as it is not suitable and also lead to high defective rate if do in big items. Mostly we do ceramic rings/components.
D: What are the characteristics of the ceramic material itself? Are there any unique advantages compared to other materials?
W: Corrosion resistance, scratch resistance, good surface gloss.
D: As far as I know, the powders we use to produce ceramics are generally purchased from outside, so where do we generally purchase from, and how much do we purchase at one time?
W: We mainly purchase the power from domestic and Japan and the purchasing quantity mainly according to the orders and quantity requirements of our customers.
D: What other materials can ceramics be combined with? Do we have projects that do these combined materials?
W: Ceramics and stainless steel, ceramics with gold and silver; our cooperative customers are mainly in Austria, Sweden, Denmark, the United States, etc.
D: Can ceramic and tungsten carbide be done in PVD? What is the difference in the plating effect between ceramic and tungsten carbide?
W: Yes, but the effect of electroplating will not be as good as the effect of PVD plating on metal parts. Generally, we suggest not doing plating in ceramic; tungsten carbide can be used for general plating, and the effect of PVD plating will be the best.
D: Can ceramic and tungsten carbide do in the engraving?
W: Ceramics can’t make engraving logos, their characteristics are corrosion-resistant. Generally, we do laser logos;
Also, tungsten carbide does not do engraving logos. As its hardness of it is too high, the laser effect will be similar to that of engraving. So we mostly do laser on these two materials.
D: Which brands do we mainly cooperate with for tungsten carbide and ceramic projects? Have we been maintaining order and cooperation with our customers?
W: For Tungsten Carbide products, our main customers in America, making men’s rings; For ceramics products: we have been doing ceramic ring/component.
D: What is the main characteristic of the tungsten carbide compared to other materials?
W: The hardness of the tungsten carbide is really high and its hardness is just second only to diamond.
D: I have noticed a problem with nickel release in tungsten carbide, what do you think about it?
W: Nickel is an industrial adhesive and an indispensable material for metal processing. Our control over nickel is very strict, and it will not cause any adverse effects on the human body. The United States is also a market we have cooperated with for a long time. No feedback about poor ingredients from them since cooperation.
D: How is the QC process?
W: We have IQC and QC process for the product, from raw materials to the finished to finished products will have 100% full inspection.
D: What is the lead time for tungsten carbide and ceramic projects?
W: It depends on the style, 30-40 days for pure ceramic ordinary style (ceramic ring , ceramic grooving, ceramic-inlay style, etc.), same as tungsten carbide; 40-50 days for ceramic with complex design (combination ring, sandblasting, PVD plating, etc.), 40-45 days for complex tungsten carbide styles (such as combination rings or with PVD plating technique);
Mold creating: About two weeks, after ceramic mold comes out to sintering: about 10 days, processing: about 10 days, if it is matched with other materials to make finished products, we need to add the processing time of other materials.
